Karuna Foundation Nepal works in close partnership with the provincial and local governments to implement the Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program (DPRP). The program is currently being implemented across all 137 local governments of Koshi Province, while its approach is also being expanded to other provinces in collaboration with government partners. Beyond DPRP, the organization works closely with government institutions across all programs to strengthen systems, foster collaboration, and maximize impact.
Karuna Foundation Nepal believes that sustainable development is achieved through strong government leadership and active community participation. Guided by this belief, the organization focuses on strengthening local government systems, building institutional capacity, and promoting community ownership to ensure that development initiatives are sustainable, inclusive, and locally driven.

266 Children with Disabilities have been identified in 7 Prevention & Rehabilitation villages (2 different districts: Sunsari and Rasuwa).
1. In these 7 villages a Village Development Rehabilitation Committee has been formed with which an agreement has been signed.
2. In the villages a community based rehabilitation facilitator has been selected and trained.
3. On average 35% of the total project costs (2000 euro per village) has been mobilized locally.
