Direct Constituents:- 78,541 (persons with disabilities), 13,280 (Persons with Disabilities supported with assistive device) and 2,946 (School Going Children with Disabilities linked with Government scholarship).
Goal: To contribute to the reduction of preventable disabilities, maternal and neonatal deaths and development of disability inclusive society
Karuna Foundation Nepal, in collaboration with Family Welfare Division and Koshi Provincial Health Directorate has been actively involved in addressing cervical cancer through the Cervical Cancer Screening and Prevention (CCSP) project in eastern Nepal since 2017 with the financial support of the Female Cancer Foundation, the Netherlands. The project, initially launched in Ilam district and continued in Sunsari, that focuses on both demand creation and service strengthening through raising community awareness, capacity building of health workers including FCHVs, equipment support to the health facilities, screening campaigns execution through VIA methods, referral and facilitation for treatment.
BISWAS (Building Trust and Confidence among Neglected Tropical Diseases Affected and Vulnerable Population) Project. This project is being implemented in 44 rural/municipalities Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari. Out of them, the project activities are tailored for community level in 25 municipalities, (mostly those bordering India) i.e 10 rural/municipalities of Jhapa, 7 of Morang and 8 of Sunsari district with poor health indicators and high burden of NTDs.
Karuna Nepal and Kathmandu Institute of Child Health (KIOCH) – Damak Children’s Hospital, with support from Kind en Oor (Baccha ra Kaan) and the Wilde Ganzen Foundation (Netherlands), have partnered to establish a hearing center aimed at preventing hearing-related disabilities in Koshi Province, Nepal.
