BISWAS

The BISWAS (Building Trust and Confidence among Neglected Tropical Diseases-Affected and Vulnerable Populations) Project was implemented across 44 local governments in Jhapa, Morang, and Sunsari districts.

The project delivered comprehensive community-level interventions in 25 local governments, mainly in areas along the Nepal–India border where the burden of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) was higher and health indicators were comparatively poor. These included 10 local governments in Jhapa, 7 in Morang, and 8 in Sunsari.

In the remaining 19 local governments, the project focused on strengthening municipal systems and health facility services. As the strategic partner for Disability Inclusive Development (DID), Karuna Foundation Nepal led disability inclusion initiatives across the project area and worked toward reaching 3,700 persons with disabilities during the project period.

Through BISWAS, the organization contributed to improving access to inclusive health and development services, strengthening local systems, and promoting the meaningful participation of persons with disabilities in community and institutional processes.
